YUPO CONTEMPLATION

Sometimes the emotional connection between humans and animals can be incredibly strong, even if the animal is wild. What fun to try to transfer that emotion on paper while trying to use a good sense of design and composition.

Soooo HUGE, this gorilla, and yet he seemed to be so tender. I wanted to capture his drama and gentleness.

I think you have captured the tenderness perfectly... I like the very soulful eyes of his!

A very quick question: what do you use to fix the paintings on Yupo paper? I have tried a couple of products myself but they all seem to yellow a bit and distroys the vibrant color on Yupo paper...

Thanks so much for the comments. Elflling, I've sprayed with both Blair fixative and Krylon Satin finish fixative (a Proctor and Gamble chemist said they are the same exact thing.) I no longer spray them. Taylor Ikin, Florida, sprays hers just around the edges. The paint will not move unless it's touched by damp fingers, so warn your framer to take care. Also, avoid the use of salt for texture on YUPO because the salt will draw moisture and actually rewet that area in very high humidity, even after the salt's been brushed off! HAVE FUN!
