SLOWING DOWN

Once in a while, I see this box turtle behind the studio, slowly making her was through the grasses and weeds. This week I'll be slowly making my way, just like this turtle, after another knee replacement --- left knee this time.

There are two more Christmas parties for my classes, then surgery early on Thursday morning... one more painting to finish before then, though.

Turtle was painted in the late 90's sometime, after she and I had a photo session. The painting's more yellow with more greens and browns than this shows..... headed to the studio for the day;>D before I have to slow down.

I know you'll be back to zipping around soon -- a lot speedier than this turtle I'm sure. My mom had a second knee replaced last year (she's 89) and the difference it made was amazing. Hope your surgery goes well -- I'll be thinking of you on Thursday!!

Sandy, I had no idea you were going to do the other knee replacement so soon. Please let me know if you need ANYTHING at all during your recuperation.

I wish we had box turtles here.
You will be a new women with your new knee. Are you going to go walking with me this summer?
fingers crossed for a speedy recovery :)

Thanks, Chris for you encouragement, and Rhonda, for your kind offer to help. Dawn, we won't be on the west coast until 2011, so it would be a long walk this summer to get there - or are you coming here???

Good luck with your knee replacement, Sandy. I hope everything goes well, and that you are up and good as new quickly.

Love the turtle!

After you recover from this one, nothing can slow you down. You will have to paint a roadrunner.

OH no Sandy...not another knee...right before the holidays. OH my. But you really did SO SO well with the other one...I am confident. Keep that turtle image right handy so you can look it and remember to take it easy!!! Good luck and hope it goes great.

The turtle is lovely. I've always had a fondness for them.

Best wishes for the surgery on Thursday. My husband has had knee surgery several times so I know the frustration of not being able to get around as well as you want afterward.

but you can sit and paint :)

Sandy, hope all goes even better than the first knee replacement and you are back to painting soon. Will be thinking of you and wishing you a joyous Christmas Season.

It must be a trend. I just had a left total knee replacement 2 1/2 weeks ago. Slowing down is an understatement! It's more like a complete stop for the first few weeks. I'm making progress now, though, and hope you do as well. If you figure out how to paint with your leg elevated, let me know. BTW...I love your turtle painting.

Thanks, each of you, for your posts. Ann, that 1st knee went so so well, and the docotr told me not to expect things to be so good this time around, since I'm doing it only 4 months later. I'm ready, tho. Happy painting, everyone.
