NORTHERN LAKES - ITALY

An older Italian gentleman selected this painting along with another after he stopped to see what I was doing. We did our best to discuss what the painting was about, using mostly hand signals and some broken Italian and English. He gave the other painting to his friend who was with him.

Painting small, postcard sized pictures is fairly easy to do in a small space, if the wind's not blowing. Soon I'll post a picture of the great travel palette I used.

See the Italian gentleman's thumb in the corner? Once he'd picked up the picture, he didn't want to put it down for me to take a photo. I'm glad he liked the paintings.

LOL! He was not letting go of that painting, Sandy :) Great story, and great memory - just think of how you've touched people not only in Italy, but all over the world - who knows where your artwork will be kept and treasured?

Hooray, Sandy! This gentleman's thumb on the corner of this painting is a testament to your painting skill! Great going! I love this one, too.

Oh, this is great! I love the painting and the story. It reminds me of making my little paintings in Europe while I was on tour. No one stopped to buy, but that's ok. I'm glad you had your camera so you were able to show and tell.

What a great little painting! I can see why he didn't want to let it go. :-)

I am so excited seeing all these plein aire Italian Lakes paintings. What a wonderful time you must have had with all your girl friends. Well done with all those unexpected but well deserved street sales.
Its a great big anniversary for Clive and me next June and Im trying to persuade him to take me to Lake Garda and now Ive seen your posts, I want it all the more. It all began as a surprise idea when he thought to book us into the hotel where we had our honeymoon in the Channel Island of Guernsey - now Ive go to persuade him to change the destination!!?? Oh dear, Im not very romantic am I??
